About Sisi, Crete
Sisi is located approximately 40 km from the Capital City of Crete, Heraklion (Iraklio) and just 25 km from Aghios Nikolaos, the next busy but picturesque town on the Northern Coast .
As with a lot of the villages on the North Central and Eastern Coast the views are well balanced between sea and mountains. The sea is warm and calm most of the time and if it gets really hot there's often a little sea breeze to keep you cooler in the high season, Sissi's beaches are small, clean and secluded just right for a spot of quiet sunbathing.
There are plenty of coastal and mountain paths for those who like to walk, biking is also popular in Sissi as most slopes are gentle ones. Visitors to Sissi can enjoy the traditional Cretan way of life, as Sissi is still a small, relatively unspoilt by mass tourism, hospitable and quiet place, but still full of life.
It offers accommodation that serves all tastes, with all classes of Hotel and Apartment Accommodation as well as Camping (a rarity in Crete ). There are of course the usual Car Hire Offices, Supermarkets, Tourist Shops, Bars and Restaurants. Below is a little gallery, not just of Sisi, but Crete too. From left to right: Elounda Bay, Spinalonga, Cretan Sunset, Sisi Harbour, The White Mountains and Phaistos Palace, Click the small images to enlarge.
The picturesque port of Sissi resembles a large natural swimming pool and often you can see local children diving off the quayside into the clear blue water, there is a paved path all the way round the harbour which is ideal for a safe walk by the sea. The port is very picture postcard indeed with its sleepy harbour full of fishing boats, and fish can often be seen in the clear waters.

On the east side of the village there is the sandy beach of Boufos , which has been awarded the International Golden Starfish. Then a little further on after the beach of Bufos , there is a small, romantic beach named Avlaki, there are no sunbeds or tavernas which gives this nice little beach the feeling of a private beach.

Further on still and you will find the biggest hotel in Sissi, Kalimera Kriti and then after that you are heading for the Village of Milatos
